A Guy Called Gerald

Once upon a time there was a young boy and his name was Gerald. He lived In Gerald Land and played Gerald music.
He had a dog that he also called Gerald. Gerald the guy and Gerald the dog didn't got along so well because Gerald the dog used to shit all around the house, so Gerald the guy kicked Gerald the dog out in the street.
Since then Gerald the guy is living alone playing peacefully his gerald music.
A Guy Called Gerald- Escape

Seminal house (and later drum & bass) artist from Moss Side, Manchester, England. His first and biggest hit, early Hacienda club classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ from the UK acid house explosion of 88/89, has proven to be one of the most enduring pieces of music from the period. Got his name because he sent his early demos to DJ Stu Allan, of local Manchester radio station Piccadilly Radio, who used to play the tracks on air introducing them as being by “a guy called Gerald from Moss Side”.

BestFest 2008 ( Day 3)

BestFest 2008 ( Day 2)

BestFest 2008 ( Day 1)

I am Romanian/ i like to eat!
Frumos, corect, funny.

Their biggest commercial and critical success came with 1990’s Jordan: The Comeback, which was a hit in the UK and nominated for a Brit award.

In 2003, Audio Bullys dropped their debut album ‘Ego War’ and emerged from the UK to re-ignite a rapidly fading state of dance music. Blending choice cuts of house, hip-hop, punk, soul and UK garage they joined Basement Jaxx, Stanton Warriors and The Streets to lead a movement that cracked chin-stroking, head-bobbing hipsters square in the jaw. Now, the Bullys return to the scene of the crime with the new album ‘Generation’. Once again, Tom Dinsdale’s expertly crafted beats, bass and breakdowns join the street-smart lyrics of Simon Franks to create another soundtrack to urban life in London.

With his full-length debut album “Transitions” in 2007 he continued on this road in a truly original way. The album featured 15 tracks, and was the product of three years of sampling, tweaking and composing. Comparisons to artists such as DJ Shadow, Krush and RJD2 spring to mind with his blend of atmospheric and cinematic hip-hop beats.

Ispiral Carpets

Today I'll tell you about a nice couple.
They were together for 3 years and willing to get married and have children someday.
One evening they went out for a walk. They did what lovers do: holding hands, kissing, "I love you!", "No, I love you more", until they were robbed and killed.

Inpriral Carpets -Saturn 5

The Manchester-based Inspiral Carpets was formed in 1986, and emerged alongside bands like The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays, from the indie scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their sound is based around harmonic (and often psychedelic) keyboards and jangly guitars. The band were propelled to fame after being ‘discovered’ by the Radio 1 DJ John Peel and had their greatest chart success in the UK with a single entitled This Is How It Feels, which is a song about loneliness and unemployment.

Shukar play ursari music (ursar means “bear tamer” or “bear handler”) using spoons, wooden barrels or darabouka to create a powerful and urgent sound that is emotional and soulful at the same time. Urban Gypsy combines Shukar’s original ursari music with the new technology of the collective, resulting in their distinctive sound.

Marcy Playground- Coming Up From Behind

Named for the formative location in lead singer John Wozniak’s childhood, the Marcy Open grade school in Minneapolis, Marcy Playground emerged in the late 1990s with clean and subdued alternative rock.
Wozniak’s first effort, “Zog BogBean - From the Marcy Playground”, was a self-produced labor of love, recorded in his bedroom studio with some help from his then-girlfriend Sherry Fraser in the early nineties. A small run of CD’s was self-released by Wozniak, and to this day it remains extremely difficult to find, and highly sought after. Most copies that surface for sale go for over $100.

Gogol Bordello- Not A Crime

Combining elements of punk, gypsy music, and Brechtian cabaret, Gogol Bordello tells the story of New York’s immigrant diaspora through debauchery, humor, and surreal costumes. Leader and singer Eugene Hütz’s taste in music was spun out of black-market tapes of the The Birthday Party and Einstürzende Neubauten in his native Ukraine.
After being evacuated to Western Ukraine in 1986 following the Chernobyl disaster, Hütz became enamored of the mystical, outsider qualities of gypsy music. Living as a refugee in Poland, Hungary, Austria, and Italy before moving to the United States in 1993, he experienced life as an outsider himself.

Laibach is an industrial project that was started in Trbovlje, Slovenia, in 1980. Their name is taken from the German name for Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana, and this reference to World War II occupation was the first of many provocative and ambiguous statements in their long and chameleonic career. Laibach were founder members of the art movement NSK (Neue Slowenische Kunst — “New Slovenian Art”) and are one of the few musical groups able to claim real influence on the history of their home country.

Eagles Of Death Metal- Whorehoppin' Shit Goddamn

Eagles of Death Metal is the embodiment of all fuzzed out, overdriven guitar rock to shake your booty to. Don’t look for deeper meanings or avant-garde synthesizer tricks, because these Eagles are strictly business. On their first album, Jesse “The Devil” Hughes tackles the subjects of dancing, dancing, speed, boogeying (see: Dancing), sex, and killing his ex-wife, all with smooth falsetto vocals, infectious guitar by Tim Vanhamel from Millionaire, and Josh Homme’s solid percussion skills. The grand idea of the Eagles of Death Metal is to make music that people will enjoy, that doesn’t have to be taken too seriously.
